Miss Texas USA 2012 Pageant | September 4, 2011

Decadent and glamorous gowns, hair as high as the sky, and beautiful girls filled the room Sunday afternoon at the Hilton Americas Hotel in Downtown Houston as the Miss Texas USA 2012 Pageant was in full swing. The trip down to Houston was a family affair. My family drove down from Dallas and I drove south from Austin. In addition to attending the pageant to watch my friends vie for one of the most prestigious titles in the pageant world, I was able to hit up the Elizabeth Anthony and Wardrobe: The Boutique trunk shows in search of my dream gown for the National Pageant set for March in San Antonio! I am thrilled to announce that I have found the most immaculate gown from my sponsor, Elizabeth Anthony and I an ecstatic for everyone to see its debut at Nationals! 

Before the Pageant kicked off, I was able to reconnect with an old friend, Rachel Blacketer Hedstrom, Mrs. Collin County International, and of course, my sister queen, Jessi Amerie. The competition was stiff as always and everyone looked beyond fabulous. As we say in Texas, “The higher the hair, the closer to God.” At the end of the big production, Miss Houston, Brittany Booker took the title. She is a beautiful and eloquent and I know she will represent Texas well at the Miss USA Pageant! 

Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to send out hopes and prayers to all those affected by the Texas wildfires. It’s such a shame that this is happening. From my apartment and on the UT Campus, you can see a layer of smoke hovering on top of us. Thank you to all the brave firemen who are helping to contain the fire.
