Meeting President Powers of the University of Texas | Monday, August 29, 2011

I have passed by the Main Building of the University of Texas an innumerable amount of times on my way to class, to the library, to my car, or whenever I’m going anywhere across campus. I always knew that the President’s Office was in the building, but I never really thought that I would one day be in the office, having a personal conversation with him. 

Right after taking the title of Miss Texas Collegiate, my director, Valerie went straight to work and had contacted President Powers to see if he was interested in meeting with me. Needless to say, yesterday afternoon, I found myself in his office, which has a spectacular view of the campus. President Powers, Ms. Valerie, and I had a great conversation talking about my experience with past pageants, the Miss Texas Collegiate Pageant over the summer, and about my trip to San Antonio next March to compete for the title of Miss Collegiate America. He was so inspirational and motivating. 

As always, I couldn’t leave his beautiful office (which used to be a library) without posing for a few photos. You can’t forget to Hook ‘em Horns ;)
