Children’s Medical Center Dallas Visit & Misc. News | August 11, 2010

Hello Everyone! I hope everyone has had a good week thus far. I’ve been so busy with appearances and preparing for my Fall Semester lately! Not to mention a lot of my friends are getting ready to move into their dorms so I have been taking the time to visit them before they leave in addition to helping my Family out at home. There’s always so much to do!

This past Monday, August 9, 2010, I had the opportunity to visit Children’s Medical Center and visit with the children. I must say, going to all the different playrooms and seeing how hopeful they are was like seeing the biggest beam of light. Of course, smiles broke out on their faces and their eyes lit up upon seeing my crown, but the children granted me something as well: The chance to be a kid again. I played with Legos, Guess Who?, painted with water colors, colored with crayons, played UNO, and put together puzzles. Their playtime went by so fast! I was sad to see them leave. However, before parting, I gave each one of them a signed autograph sheet that they could keep to show their families and friends. A few of the girls even asked for extras for their siblings. This was touching because I thought it was wonderful of them to think of their loved ones even though they weren’t around. I know whenever I go places, I tend to ask for extras to bring home for my brother and sister.

Sadly, I was not able to take photos in the playroom because of safety precautions for the children, but I do have a photo of myself in the hospital while waiting for Ms. Julie Adams to escort me to the different rooms. While walking to and from the playrooms and going on elevators, Ms. Adams and I were able to spend a little time chit-chatting and I got the chance to tell her about my own siblings who are thoroughly involved in the Medical field. She instantly turned to my Mom and said, “Oh! Proud Parent!” upon hearing that my sister is a Pharmacist and repeated the same sentence, “Oh! Proud Parent!” once more to my Mom when I mentioned my brother is currently in Medical School.
