metroPCS Asian Festival at the Mainstreet Garden in Downtown Dallas | May 7, 2011

The metroPCS Asian Festival is a free event that showcases authentic Asian cuisine, cultural entertainment and activities for children in a daylong festival celebrating the National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The event attracts thousands of attendees each year, making it the largest celebration of Asian cultures in North Texas. As a third-generation Vietnamese-American and America’s U.S. Miss, I was honored to have the privilege of being a special guest at this wonderful festival.

With diverse entertainment from the Asian communities here in DFW, the crowd got a taste of every part of Asia. In addition to emceeing, I read the Proclamation from the Mayor of Dallas, Dwaine Caraway, and presented plaques to each of the sponsors for the Festival.

I had a fantastic time at the Asian Festival. The weather was perfect, sunny, but not too hot and in between introductions, I sipped my Thai tea. Watching the audience genuinely enjoy the display of Asian culture in addition to donating money towards Support Japan made my heart swell and proud to have Asian and Vietnamese heritage.
