Saturday Ocean Performs at Lunar New Year Festival in Grand Praire, TX | January 23, 2011

Pageants and modeling have helped boost my self-confidence in more ways than I ever imagined. Two years ago, I was contemplating how I could give other teens this same experience and it wasn’t long until I came up with a solution: The Saturday Ocean Entertainment Group. I founded Saturday Ocean to be able to give other teens a modeling experience to build more self-esteem, make new friends, and serve the community all while having fun. 

Of course, we weren’t going to let Lunar New Year pass by without one of our trademark performances. On a frigid 30 degree day, Saturday Ocean braced the weather, took off our warm peacoats, and strutted down the runway wearing a variety of Ao Dais (Vietnamese Long Dress), and latest fashions, ranging from casual to black tie attire. We performed at Trader’s Village in Grand Prairie to a crowd of over 3,000 people.

I couldn’t be any prouder of my members. After rehearsals and mini peptalks before the show, they went from being shy and timid to really working the runway. I felt like a Proud Mom watching everyone walk down the runway with a smile on their face.
