Christmas at Saigon Mall | December 24th & 25th, 2010

By now, all of you should know that Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. So when Tracy, the Marketing Director of Saigon Mall invited me to make an appearance during her vivacious Christmas Celebrations, my answer was definitely a yes! My job was to be the emcee for the event, introducing different singers and guests of honor. In addition, she also invited me to sing a few songs onstage for the audience and sign autographs.

I was also introduced onstage by Asia singer, Ngoc Huyen. She asked me about my goals and aspirations, my hobbies, what I was studying in school, and my plans for the future. I was proud to say that part of my plans was to continue working for the Vietnamese American Community as well as volunteer in the American community as much as possible.

This event was a great chance to connect with more Vietnamese people in my community and get in touch with the younger generation to speak out on behalf of a great cause: Raising money for the children of wounded Vietnam War and retaining Vietnamese culture while living overseas. I got to speak with many children and get to know their interests. One of the best moments I remember from the event was when Bich Loan and I (my Co-emcee on Christmas Day) invited a little 5 year old girl onstage to chat with us. When I asked her what her favorite past time was she answered, “Studying.” I thought that was SO CUTE!

When it came time for me to sing, I sang a song called, “Tôi Muốn.” In English, it is translated as, “I Would Like.” The song lyrics float around the meaning that I would like everyone to love each other, not to hate or seek revenge. It’s an upbeat, happy song and it fit the season perfectly with New Years right around the corner.

In addition to working this exciting event, I got the privilege to model for Blue Angel Photography. I love modeling and it was great to work a Christmas themed set. Everything looked like a magical Christmas corner. The owner of Blue Angel even gave me a large framed picture to take home as gift! I was so thankful that he was so generous and kind.

This photo was taken by my sister while the photographer was still working out different light settings.

All in all, I had a wonderful time at Saigon Mall, seeing old friends, making new ones, and helping everyone feel warm inside on such a cold day in Dallas, Texas on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
