Lantern Light | December 4, 2010
I love winter and I LOVE the Holiday Season. After having such a great time at American Scout Day over at the Heritage Farmstead Museum, I decided it was time to go back to help ring in the Christmas spirit at their Lantern Light event. At this special event, the Heritage Farmstead Museum offers tours of the beautifully decorated Historic Victorian Home, entertainment by E-Flat Porch Band, live music performed by local youth groups, demonstrations by Master Blacksmith Kelly Kring, Storytelling by the North Forty Storytellers, crafts & games for children, mule-drawn wagon rides, visits with Father Christmas and of course, hot refreshments provided by Starbucks!
As I sipped my own cups of hot chocolate, I signed autograph for children and young girls who were interested in my “sparkly crown” and got the chance to talk to them about self-confidence, what it’s like to be a pageant titleholder, and learn each child’s goals and aspirations. Local Girl Scout Troops performed a variety of Christmas carols and sang beautifully. While the weather was very cold (31 degrees!) the atmosphere was warm with families coming together, children playing with each other, and of course, wonderful entertainment and food.
