A Thousand Tears Falling | November 7, 2010
Fresh off the airplane with recycled air and dry skin, I hopped into my brother’s car and got ready for my next appearance: Yung Krall’s Book Signing & Discussion at the Vietnamese American Community Center of Greater Dallas. Mrs. Krall is a former American spy, born in Vietnam. While her family was split: her father was a communist whereas her mother believed in preserving South Vietnam’s freedom, she followed her Mother’s path and has truly made a difference.
From one family, split by ideology in a war-torn country, emerges a brave, resilient woman. Like the river of a love over ravaged land flows a story of A Thousand Tears Falling. Mrs. Krall’s book highlights many things kept hidden during the troubled era of the Vietnam War.
The event kicked off with the Vietnamese National anthem being sung and my Mother, a Psychology & Vietnamese Language Professor made a speech about A Thousand Tears Falling. Her synopsis and commentary of the book was meticulous, yet easy to follow, and of course, heart-warming.
Afterwards, Mrs. Krall herself read an excerpt from the book and answered questions. A very in-demand author, the moment she sat down to autograph books, the line started growing and growing. However, I was able to snag a few photos with her afterwards. Being able to meet such a wonderful and brave woman and be a part of such an inspiring event was incredible.
